CRUISE INDUSTRY DELIVERS OVER
$84 MILLION IN DIRECT ECONOMIC BENEFIT TO ATLANTIC CANADA
With another season
wrapped up, the Atlantic Canada Cruise Association has reported that 2008 was a
record year for the cruise line industry in Atlantic Canada. The association is
crediting much of the success to its new marketing strategy and continuing
efforts to promote Atlantic Canada as a unique and exciting cruise line
destination.

ACOA INVESTS IN LOCKEPORT
REVITALIZATION
The Government of Canada will invest over $63,000 in the waterfront development
and branding of the Lockeport Loop area, which encompasses the Town of Lockeport
and surrounding villages on Route 3. The project will involve the development of
infrastructure designed to create economic opportunities for residents and local
businesses, and enhance the area’s appeal to tourists.

The Honourable
Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), and
the Honourable Shawn Graham, Premier of New Brunswick, announced close to $1.4
million in federal and provincial funding for A. Landry Fabrication Ltée, to
support the design and development of a first-to-market purpose-built track
harvester.

INFRASTRUCTURE IN GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY
National Defence and
Atlantic Gateway Minister Peter MacKay and Keith Ashfield, Minister of State for
ACOA, today announced a federal investment of more than $30,000 for upgrades and
enhancements to the Bonnet Lake coastal barrens wilderness protected area.
